What’s the advantage of mobile internet connections?
That is an interesting question, isn’t it? Well to some it is!
As history demonstrates time and again, technology is moving quicker and quicker and the demands on organisations to react, work securely and efficiently has never been so great. We at Prosis have discovered that the metaphor “you can have your cake and eat it” is now true with the developments in mobile comms to achieve cost-effective, safe, secure and fast connections using mobile communications as the connection of choice.
4G as a communications technology has been around for many years, and as we know 5G is now here. However, the UK’s infrastructure is still being upgraded and rolled out to achieve the 5G potential, but 4G is here and is more readily available than ever before!
In the “real world”, 4G will achieve speeds of 15Mbps upload and 25Mbps download and for most day-to-day business needs then this is adequate. Using online services such as MS Office 365 or Google Docs allows you to create and edit documents on your device, and the applications will save changes to your cloud version when they can. Email delivery is also very slick and will only download content on demand.
We have seen in some cases that a 4G connection has been a faster option than a landline equivalent such as ADSL and FTTC!
4G data packages are very competitively priced, with huge data bundles and shorter-term contracts than their traditional counterparts such as ADSL. We have recently carried out data analysis for a corporate client, as we can see savings of circa 65% per annum to change.
With customised 4G connection packages, we can offer static public IP addresses with the sim card connection: this enables additional levels of security and management to the end device and its users. We believe this is great for corporate clients, so they can manage their remote connections in real-time into their networks.
Managed, locked down connections using APN management or full internet access on a data sim card connection is possible, and some of our clients apply their internet network firewall policies to their remote sim connections. We can go on and on about the benefits!
Applications where we have seen 4G benefits, includes:
- remote office working
- home working
- Temporary sites creation
- Vehicle monitoring
- CCTV Camera monitoring & management
- Traffic signals management
- Data collection
- IOT monitoring & management.
- Remote machinery management & monitoring
We create BOVPN’s (Branch Office Virtual Private Networks) for our clients, so their remote workers benefit from utilising their organisation’s networks and data stores.
