The Challenge
Our client had a requirement to securely connect into their CCTV system at their Park and Ride facility on the outskirts of Reading. The client had a limited time and budget however they required the ability to connect into their CCTV cameras at any time.
The Research
Prosis conducted a communication survey for the site to identify the most appropriate connection type, it was quickly identified that landline services are not available in a timely manner and budgetary restraints where considered. The solution required a fixed IP address and was not openly accessible via the internet.
The Solution
After further analysis, 4G was selected as the ideal communication type. Working with the client’s 4G provider, we were able to design a 4G data circuit with a fixed IP address that is only accessible via a dedicated APN. We designed, tested and implemented a secure routable connection to access the CCTV system to stream in real-time or to obtain footage on request. Our solution utilised Mikrotik 4G routers and LAN equipment to manage the LAN and WAN because of its durability, security credentials and abilities to work is extreme temperatures.
The Outcome
The client has a cost-effective, rapidly deployed, manageable, and secure connection for their team members to access the CCTV system. Within the CCTV cabinet, all equipment is clearly labelled and there is a service port for a CCTV engineer to connect into to carry out upgrades and maintenance.
The Process
As with all our projects, we spend a lot of time to understand the start and end point, we carry out physical inspections, speak with suppliers and identify as many challenges as possible before we commence any project. We always attempt to quote timeframes and costs
