Reading Borough Council contract awarded

Prosis are delighted to announce that Reading Borough Council has awarded them the contract to migrate their 80+ traffic signal and pedestrian crossing sites from ADSL broadband to 4G mobile communications.

This venture sees Prosis managing the project in terms of provision and installation of equipment, asset management recording, documenting and testing each site, whilst Siemens Mobility (Yunex Traffic) ensure all sites are linked into their hosted UTC systems. The Council benefits from mobile comms as a cost-effective service for a while and has now opted to replace most of its traffic sites from ADSL to 4G.

The project is estimated to take 3 – 4 months to complete with predicted in year savings for the Council of over £30,000.00 when complete.

Jon Evans (MD of Prosis) said “it is great to see our client moving to 4G as their preferred comms vehicle for their traffic sites. We have had the pleasure of working with Reading for many years on many different projects, but this to us is great. Other projects we have completed with Reading Borough Council mean we can operate CCTV cameras across the same 4G connection”

Prosis will be using Mikrotik 4G routers and switches at the sites enabling monitoring and patching from a central point.
