Prosis have kicked off the year how we mean to carry on, here is our latest case study.

Project Brief

Prosis was approached by a local authority with an interesting challenge, to propose a rapidly deployed, cost-effective communication link to connect an isolated site to their hosted UTC (Urban Traffic Control). Their typical deployment of broadband was taking too long and was becoming expensive. The client wanted their traffic light signals engineers to access the outstation without accessing the cabinet where possible.

Project Process

Our team understood their requirements, researched the market for appropriate technologies and set to design a solution that would meet the clients’ requirements. With our technical knowhow we presented the following to the client:

A 4G connection with a static IP address

A rugged 4G router that works at extreme temperatures

Secure wifi access for service engineers to access the content of the cabinet without opening the cabinet.

Project Outcome

4G as a communications method is perfect for local authorities who want stable and secure comms from their traffic signals sites. Our team delivered a secure 4G comms link from the site to their hosted UTC platform that can be monitored by the client when a site isolation occurs. The site has a secure hidden wifi cloud that is only accessible by approved devices to enable safe diagnosis of faults.
